Hello and welcome to our site! The Scotch Plains Dyslexia Center has been serving families with clinically diagnosed cases of Dyslexia for more than 16 Years! Based on the concept of the Orton-Gillingham approach to remedial tutoring, hundreds of children have become confident and self assured individuals armed with the necessary tools to fight childhood Dyslexia. At the Scotch Plains Center, we have provided after school tutoring to residents of the surrounding neighborhoods and the counties of Essex, Somerset, Middlesex, Union, and Monmouth.
We are part of a wider network of centers spread across what is defined as the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction under the auspices of the Scottish Rite branch of freemasonry. Our corporate headquarters located in Lexington, Massachusetts currently oversees the existence of over 50 centers across the Northeast and Midwest regions of the United States. We are a 501 (c) 3 Non Profit organization.
We do not discriminate in terms of race, affiliation, religion, sex, or age. Our program includes the granting of tutor scholarships to qualified teachers from the local school systems serving in the areas of our coverage and beyond. These tutors undergo an intense one to two year program administered by Fairleigh Dickinson University, in the Orton-Gillingham method of remediation. All this for no charge to the tutor or the students family!
Once trained, these qualified tutors return to their school districts armed with the tools to impact the lives of even more children in need! Some even consider private practice with a specialization in learning disabilities with an emphasis on Dyslexia tutoring!
